What You'll Need
One thing that's great about Dodgeball is that it doesn't require much gear to play... but you still need a few things to provide a great experience. These recommendations are based on what you'll need for a single match one on court. If you're running a multi-court league or tournament, multiply accordingly:

6 Dodgeballs

Choose the right ball for your league or event. View our What's the Difference Between Different Kinds of Dodgeballs article.
 | If you are running multiple courts at the same time, using one color per court helps a great deal in keeping the dodgeballs for each match in the right place! |

6 Short Cones
Short cones hold the balls at the center line for players to grab at the start of the game. Choose a color to suit your league or event!
 | Short cones can slide around on wood gym floors... Poly Spots (below) will keep them on the center line. |

Ball Bag
To wrangle the dodgeballs, of course, and store them between events.

Ball Pump
When using rubber playground dodgeballs, it's not unusual for them to lose a bit of air if stored for an extended period of time.

4 Extra Dodgeballs
Each game starts with 6 balls at center court, but once they start to fly it's easy for balls to find their way under bleachers or end up on the other side of the gym. It's ideal to have 4 extra balls at courtside for the ref or participants to feed into the game to replace balls that are temporarily out of play.

6 Poly Spots
Poly Spots are discs on which you can place the center line short cones. For slippery gym floors, the poly spots keep the cones from sliding around. With multiple colors, they also give the court set-up another cool "official" element.

Team T-Shirts
When grown-ups or kids are playing a game as goofy as Dodgeball, getting everyone into some colored t-shirts reinforces the fun and team spirit. In the heat of the match, it's also nice to know exactly who you're throwing at (they're all in orange) when you're in blue. For leagues and tournaments, shirts provide an inexpensive option for team uniforms and are easily branded with your organization's logo or sponsor graphics. T-shirts also make great party favors at Dodgeball themed events.

Dodgeball Referee
Heck, yeah! All Underdog Dodgeball matches have one uniformed ref at the center line who calls players out, keeps track of match time, and keeps score. Even though the majority of our teams are out there for fun first and competition second, Dodgeball is a fast paced game and it's great to have an official to manage the action. Underdog Dodgeball refs wear standard ref stripes, black pants or shorts, and a whistle (of course). Other leagues use a specific color of t-shirt for the ref... whatever works for your event.
